Swedish Massage
Known as a “classic massage” in many countries, the Swedish massage is the
best known and most widely practiced type of massage therapy. There are a
variety of techniques used in Swedish massage; strokes are applied by the hands
and palms. The main goal of Swedish massage is to calm the body and mind, and
lightly release muscle tension. A combination of firm and lighter strokes are
applied to the body with the goal of relaxing the muscle tissues and increasing
blood flow to the heart. Just about anyone can benefit from a Swedish massage.
Research has shown Swedish massage can lower blood pressure, improve mood
disorders, help with pain reduction, reduce general anxiety symptoms, and
improve sleep.
